If you’re the aspiring next generation evil criminal mastermind (yes I’m still on a James Bond kick) then do we have just the car for you.
The future has arrived at Rolls-Royce with the unveiling of its first fully-electric coupe, the Spectre. Designed from scratch as an electric vehicle, the Spectre has just reached 1.5 million miles in testing ahead of its anticipated 2023 release. The team at Rolls-Royce engineered a new aluminum chassis to maximize the quiet, powerful nature of electric power, in a car that measures 18 feet long and weighs nearly 6000 pounds!
The Spectre is expected to have over 300 miles of range and produce over 660 lb-ft of torque, with a 0-60 sprint of 4.4 seconds (no mention of battery or charge times). Just a hair slower than the gentleman behind you in the Aston Martin DB11. Again, remember we just said that the Spectre weighs the same as the Ford King Ranch F-250 currently sitting out front. Besides, at this point in the game it’s not about how fast you get there.
While Spectre retains the familiar traditional vertical lines and imposing presence synonymous with the brand, it also happens to be the most aerodynamic shape Rolls-Royce has ever produced, with a drag coefficient of 0.25.
Inside, Rolls-Royce Starlight headliner now transitions to the door panels with over 5,876 LEDs along with nearly limitless options of coverings and materials available. We also expect to see classic Rolls features on the coupe as well. Expectations are that this model will be available in the coach builder’s Bespoke design department.
The British manufacturer hasn’t released pricing yet but speculation is that it will begin around $400,000 USD. It might be time to hit the poker table at Casino Royale.
