Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium

While looking at the recent collaboration of Omega X Swatch we stumbled upon a noteworthy “This vs That” moment. You want a new Omega Seamaster Automatic but don’t have the $5100 USD for the iconic arm piece, what do you do? For less than a grand you don’t often see a quality Swiss made automatic watch. There is one though and it happens to be made by a sister company to Omega. Take a look at the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium.

Inspired by the classic and clean looks of the “Mad Men” era with a size of 40mm, a thickness of 11.mm, and a sapphire crystal lens the Powermatic sports 80 hours of reserve on a full charge. That’s enough to pick it back up after 3 days of not wearing it and it will still be running. Most of the competition for this watch typically comes with a 36 hour power reserve.

While there are 17 combinations of dial face, housing, and armband combinations available, our favorite is the truly timeless look of the green dial and stainless steel housing and band. A watch that will garner lots of compliments and no doubt even spark conversations of “is that a Rolex?”. There is a good reason afterall why this is called a “baby Rolex”. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 it closely resembles starts at $6150 by the way. With a price tag of only $775, however, the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Silicium is a piece truly worthy of an everyday wear and belongs in any watch collection.
